I'm afraid I don't have enough information about my own branch to determine if we're "connected."
According to my mother (who isn't positive about the names): 3 Simmons brothers named John, Henry and Joseph came over - from England or Wales - in the mid 1700s.My great-great Aunt claimed they were political refugees.
One stayed in the NY area. One went to Virginia (and that branch ultimately went to California). The 3rd went to New Jersey, settling in and around Paterson.I don't know which brother that was - but he's apparently my ancestor.
I can only pick up the thread around 1830/40 when my ancestor Henry(?) Simmons married Eliza Jans Van Riper.
Does any of this fit with your information?
