Evelyn Beryl Simon

QUINCY - Evelyn Beryl Simon, 96, of Quincy, formerly of Farmersville, died Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2006, at Good Samaritan Home.

She was born March 21, 1910, in Edinburg, the daughter of Myron and Pearl Roberts. She married Eldon Simon in 1931 in Edinburg; he died in 1990.

Mrs. Simon graduated from Hillsboro High School and Stephens College at Columbia, Mo. She taught school and was an elementary school principal. She also taught Spanish and knitting and was co-owner of a knit shop in Girard.

She was a member of Farmersville United Methodist Church, where she was active in United Methodist Women, taught Sunday school and served on various committees. She was a 50-year member of Order of the Eastern Star, Haselmere Chapter 221 in Taylorville and was a worthy grand matron.

Survivors: daughter, Beverly Nail of Chesterfield, Mo.; son, Gene (wife, Peg) Simon of Quincy; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three nieces; and one nephew.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Farmersville United Methodist Church, the Rev. Willa Bruce officiating. Burial: Rovey Cemetery, Farmersville.

Hugh Funeral Home in Farmersville is in charge of arrangements.
