I was much interested in your posting, especially in what I call the "Connecticut Connection". Initially I had thought I could provide you with some new, supporting information, or at least confirm some of it. Your list of Paul and Mary's children is right on, something I gleaned some time ago from Steve Rizan's website "Descendants of William Simons".
My gg grandfather, Jonathan Simons was enumerated in Canada as born in USA, 14 Oct 1794, and I found in the LDS IGI records a Jonathan Simons, b. 12 Oct 1794 in Mansfield Twp, Tolland Co., CT which I believe could be him. His parents were Jonathan Simons jr., and Anna_____, of Mansfield.Their marriage was in 1793, with childrenJonathan b. 14 Oct 1794 and Anna b. 1796.
I have other clues tending to suggest that my Jonathan disappeared, while his sister remained in existance. She married and subsequent census and State Vital Records indicate who and when she married and enumerated her children. Nothing on my Jonathan, which might go to show he left the country.
Also I believe (from IGI records) that Jonathan's grandparents and great grandparents were from the Bolton/Vernon region.
I guess my question is was my Jonathan a cousin of Eliakim ???Where all the Simonses in Tolland County related ??? Do you know of any publications about any of the early CT Simons family ???
