Yes, I am part of one or more of these families, as their descendants show up in Kentucky. Mine are probably the ones related to Gen. Grant, but at this juncture, I really don't know. I think it is more likely that I'm related to Andrew Simpson Sr. whose sons built Fort Ligonier in Indiana Co.PA.
Their sons and daus definitely moved into Virginia.
It is strange you should mention the Mayflower Simpsons. When I was reading the old wills of those Chester Co.,PA Simpsons, I got the distinct impression that they had come from New England. Many people in that part of PA were from Massachusetts & Connecticut. Their names are very New England and not at all like my Scots Simpsons, who stick to the James, John etc.
Zebulon Simpson, I would be willing to bet was from New England.
Now, I have read over the list you sent about 3 times.
I recognize a John Thomas, born 1740. If he is in my family, he would have immigrated to Virginia and would be found with the Woods and Adams families. I do not know exactly where he fits in as yet. I have a cousin,
a Jack Thomas, who is trying to put his family tree together and is having such a hard time. There is no doubt that he belongs to our family, but exactly how I do not know! Frustrating!
There are others I recognized in your list, but why don't you e-mail me so that we can talk.
Bonnie
