Re: Lloyd/Loyd Simpson line

My ggggrandfather was Loyd Simpson b. about 1800 VA. He married Rebecca Nelson, 20 Oct 1823 in Washington Co KY.I believe he is a son of Loyd and Martha Smith Simpson and possibly the brother of Payton Simpson.

I spent some time in the DAR library and found a possible link for Loyd's parents.A Jeremiah Stimson/Stinson/ Stimpson/Simpson, born 08 January 1724/5 Rock Creek Parish DC, Prince George Co., Maryland sold his land in MD in 1770 and moved his family to Pittsylvania VA.He died 27 Jan 1777. He married Rachel Lnu, probably 2nd wife... (b. 14 Feb 1752, d. 08 Dec 1806 Pittsylvania Co VA).

Upon his death in 1777, Jeremiah left a will willing land to Jeremiah, Erasmus and Loyd STIMSON, and his personal estate to Rachel his wife and all his children, both male and female.

I believe Jeremiah Jr. was a revolutionary soldier and his brothers Erasmus and Solomon may have sided with the British.I have not found any military connection for Loyd.

The family seems to use the name Stimson and Simpson and variants interchangably. I thought this might be the family connection to Loyd of Pittsyvania VA who settled in the Washington/Anderson/Marion Co area of KY as the name Jeremiah has been passed down our family line in some form or another to this day.

With the help of another genealogy reseacher, I am fairly sure that Martha SMITH's parents were Orlando SMITH (b. abt 1724 possibly Prince George Maryland and died 16 Aug 1790 in Pitsylvania Co VA) and Martha Unknown. If I remember correctly, Orlando's father died and his mother remarried, but I have not found the name of Orlando's father.
