Hi Steven, I have just read your messeage. I live in England & I have not heard of a fire that distroyed Records. There was a fire if Dublin, Ireland that distroyed a lot of Civil Records, but not all. It should be posible to trace your wife's family here in England. I am only to happy to help.
I have been looking for the family of Robert Clifton Singleton. Robert was born on 4th October 1887 in Sunderland, Co. Durham, England & brought up in the Orphanage. He left England & went to San Jose Mines, Texas with Frederick Dunn Alderson, where they were robbed. They then travelled to British Columbia to work in a mine in Hosmer. Robert married a girl called Eleanor but I do not know her maiden name. Robert & Eleanor were living in Merritt, B.A. when he joined the Canadian Engineers as a sapper he was sent to Englandin 1916. After his traininghe was posted tp Flanders & was killied 4 weeks later on the 7th June 1916. Eleanor moved to Calgary. Can anyone help me?
