My ancestors were Native American and were from Anson County. Anson county was the pathway of many Indian traders and Indian Families. Who Crossed back and forth over the NC/SC border and along the Peedee River. I am of Chowanoc, Peedee ancestry. I also have several other tribes in my line. I am of Ashe, Bennett decent. Some records of Native families were very poorly kept. My mother's people were nearly full native who were born into the late 1800's and died in the mid 1900's. I have confirmed this through Oral history and DNA testing. I belong to Maternal Native American Haplogroup A. I have posted several small articles on my family I also have Somephoto of our Indian ancestors as well. I have researched for over 23 years. I know of the Skipper family. They were of Native Ancestry Nottoway as you said. Many mixed with Blacks or Whites later on and their descendants often have all through in there family. Anson county had many mixed Native families very early on.
I am a member of the Pee Dee Indian Nation in SC. Several of whom are state recognized.
I would be interested in sharing and exchanging photos of Native ancestors with you.
