Slaughters of Dinwiddie County, VA
One of my direct ancestors is Robert A. Slaughter of Dinwiddie County, Virginia, and I am trying to find more about his family. Here is a brief summary of what I know:
Robert A. Slaughter, b. ~1830, m. 15 May 1852 in Mecklenburg Co., VA, to Frances Brooks, d. 18 Dec 1862
George H. Slaughter, b. ~1826, m. 4 July 1849 in Dinwiddie Co., VA, to Mary Virginia Moore, d. after 14 Nov 1904 (date of his will).Robert lived with George on 1850 Census.
Lewis T. Slaughter, b. ~1798, first wife Martha E., second wife Manerva Ann Vaughan (m. 30 Dec 1858), d. 1 May 1880.Lewis' age makes him a candidate to be Robert's father, but he does not have a child in the right category to be Robert in the pre-1850 Censuses in Dinwiddie County.
Thomas Slaughter, b. ~1793, first wife unknown, second wife Frances B. Lewis (m. 2 June 1841), d. after 1870 Census. He may be the son of John Slaughter and Frances Dawson (per IGI).Censuses between 1820-1840 have children the right ages for Robert and George, but I have no direct link between Thomas and either of them.
Thomas' census records indicate 4 daughters older than Robert and George (assuming they are two of the three boys counted in the censuses), and one of those may be named Elizabeth since she was living with George and Robert in 1850 also.
If you know anything about these people in Dinwiddie County, I'd appreciate your help.
I have transcribed George's will, but it makes no mention of his parents or siblings.I have not been able to find a will for Thomas.
