re: Shade Slaughter

Hi, I have finally hit a wall and desperately need help finding more information on my great, great grandfather, Shade (also spelled as "Shedd") Slaughter born about 1851 in the state Louisiana. The earliest census that I find him on is the 1880 census showing him living in Texas with his wife Lucy (Townsend) Slaughter and a few of their children. The last census I am able to locate him in was the 1910 census in Galveston County, Texas. By the 1920 census, his wife, Lucy is listed as a widow which tells me that Shade died sometime between 1910 and 1920. As far as I can find, they had around 10 children: Lillie, Humphrey, Ollie, James, Frank, Harry, Clara, Clarence, Blanche, and Helen (my great grandma).
