DAR Markers on graves of Philip Slaughter & dtr.
This article was in our local paper in The Villages, FL.
Earlier this year Capt. Philip Pendleton Slaughter was recognized and remembered with a ceremony at Shocktoe Hill in Richmond, VA.
On Sept. 28 the grave of Ann Mercer Slaughter, his daughter will be marked near her homstead at what is now Divine Life Ministries Church in Mitchells, Culpeper Co., VA.It was called All Saints Church, and is just off Cedar Mountain Road. Also buried there are her brother the Rev. Philip Slaughter, her son Thomas Slaughter, and daughter Bessie Hall.(I assume the son is also named Hall.)
Anne Mercer was born Sept. 7 1810 at Springfield Plantation in Culpeper County the daughter of Capt. Philip Pendleton Saughter and his second wife, Elizabeth Towles.Anne mentions an eldest brother, Daniel French.
There is information in the article about a meeting between her father and Marquis de Lafayette.
I will send the article (no charge) to anyone who might like to have it.
