How about this interesting Schleppi/Sleppy family tidbit?
An article by William Gregory Moore, titled "The Kidnapping of Katie Ewing" published in the Pennsylvania Farmer Magazine, tells of Betsy McCormick and Katie Ewing being captured by Indians near Neffs Mills, Huntingdon Co., PA, in October 1782. Katie Ewing later escaped near Montreal, Canada, and made her way back home to Shavers Creek Valley. Betsy McCormick's father, Alexander McCormick, went to Canada, ransomed his daughter from the Indians and they returned home to Shavers Creek Valley. Betsy McCormick later married John Ewing, brother of Katie Ewing. Katie Ewing, daughter of Thomas Ewing and Sara McLure, later married Samuel Houston of Centre Co., PA [From "Descendants of Hans Ulrich Schleppi", compiled by Robert Samuel Schleppi, Gateway Press, Inc., Baltimore, 1977.]
Betsy McCormick and John Ewing had a daughther Ann, who married Abraham Schlebi.
