Re: Giles Slocum Mystery
Perhaps, when I have a real lot of time, I will submit a bunch of information on Giles . The material I have are from the following sources, with some deep research by others.
Old Dartmouth Historical Society article by Henry Howland Crapo on "The Slocum House at Barney's Joy"; New England Historical Genealogical Society volume 70, page 283/4, 1916, aritcle by G. Andrews Moriarty, Jr.; also volume 78, pgs 395/6; article from Gen. Dict.of R.I.- John Austin (add. & corrections); Early records of Portsmouth, R.I. page 23, 38, 276, 347/7 , 349-351; Item in R.I.Archives; Register 78:395-396 (1924)
Record of the Col. of R.I. 1:300; Austin: Gen Dict. of R.I.; Salter: Ocean & Monmouth Cos. P.1iii; Plymouth Deed vol 3 part 2, page 196, also 4:260; Portsmouth Land evidence 1:95; Taunton Old Propert Records 2:9/10; The first record book of the First Baptist Church in Newport, now in the vault of the Newport Historical Society, pg. 181..Vault # 1167 (unless changed).... and many many more.
If I could learn how to tpye out all this info. and then paste it to this site (if possible) would probably be the only way I can supply all this material.
