William Smith Aberdeen-SthAfrica between 1874and1904
We're researching the FATHER of William Alexander "Willie" Smith (b. 13-08-1905, d. 1955) who was a famed South African boxer who won the Olympic gold medal in 1924 and was later a renowned hotelier near Johannesburg.
Young Willie was born at Leopard's Vlei, son of mining company employee WILLIAM SMITH and wife Annie, who had been married the previous year, 1904, in the Turffontein Tabernacle (congregational church)near Johannesburg.
Annie (Philanda Dunham, possibly Robins), 26, was born in Silver Lane, Hanes, Bedford in England.
WILLIAM, 29, was born in Aberdeen, Scotland. (Middle name possibly Archibald, his second son's name.)
We want to find out when WILLIAM (and Annie for that matter) migrated to South Africa.
