Seeking information about William D.Smith (abt 1815)and wife Minerva G. (abt 1817) Smith of Stokes County, NC.Both appear on 1880 Fed census as residing in Stokes County. I think William came from Rockingham Co.Minerva was from Virginia.Their children were: John, Robert, Francis, Elly Ann, Mary, Elijah E., Joel A., Walter, Malinda and Martha P.
Elijah E. Smith (b. 1846) of Stokes County, NC is my great-great grandfather and was a tennant farmer in Stokes County on the Mary Early farm from 1895 till his death. He was married to Mary Ann Tabitha Pulliam (b. 1854, d/o Simon L. and Martha E. Baughters Pulliam) and their children were: Maggie (m. Sanders Green(e)), William A. (m. Miss Liller), Dolphus D. "Doc" (m. 1st Ula Eaton, 2nd m. Liz. Perkins McNairy), Squire Edwin 1976-1931, my G-grandfather (m. 1st Martha Ann Southern (1874-1919), d.o. Milton & Mary Holland Southern), 2nd m. Hessie Hicks Isom), Ellis Jasper "Jap", and James Frank 1897-1975 (m. Vera Hooker).
Squire Edwin's son, Chester Carl (1896-1971), my grandfather, married Ersie Viola Bennett (1900-1962), d.o. Julius Oliver & Mary Carrie Lee Tuttle Bennett).
Squire Edwin, then later, son Chester Carl, resided in the Meadows/Flat Shoals community (family farm across from Clyde Kiser farm), near Danbury, Stokes County.
