I am searching for parents & siblings for Henry L. Smith born @1833 GA.
I know he joined Co. A. of the 12th LA Infantry & was in the Civil War begining to end.He had been captured and was paroled April 26, 1865 Greensboro, N.C.
Henry L. Smith had served in the war with 2 friends who were in the family of T. J. Hopkins, b. @1809 GA & listed #478 1850 Natchitouches Parish, LA. Census.John Ross Hopkins b. Dec 15, 1836 GA and William T. Hopkins b. Oct 10, 1841 Lowndes Co., AL.John Ross Hopkins had married Mary Emily McDow and they had two sons.John Ross Hopkins had died just before the end of the Civil War.
When Henry L. Smith was released from the P.O.W. camp he went to Selma, Dallas Co., AL and married Elizabeth Howard McDow (b. Jan 9, 1845 GA), sister of Mary Emily McDow (b. Mar 1, 1839 GA), wife of John Ross Hopkins.Elizabeth McDow's parents had died just before the war ended and her siblings had been scattered.The older ones were working and the younger ones were placed with neighbor families.

Elizabeth McDow Smith Davis would then marry Dr. William Alexander Allen in Van Zandt Co, TX. & have two more sons before dying Feb 22, 1891.
