Hi Linda
I beg to differ on this one.According to the marriage certificate of William and Patience William was the base son of Elizabeth Solway, not a child of John and Susannah.Details:
10th Sept 1843 Uplyme
William Solway, age "above", widower, labourer, Uplyme, base child of Elizabeth Solway, laborer
Patience Sweedlaw (Sweetland) age "above", spinster, servant, Uplyme, father Thomas Sweedlaw, laborer
Patience was one of 8 children of Thomas and Ann Sweetland of Axmouth.Several of them moved to the Lyme area.
I believe William had previously married Joanna Wood in Musbury on 13 May 1828.Children wre Ann 1828, Mary 1831, Elizabeth 1834 and Louisa 1837.Joanna was buried 27th Oct 1839 aged 38 in Musbury.
In 1841 William was in Dalwood with Ann and Louisa.By 1844 he and Patience were in Uplyme and by 1851 they were back in Axminster Union.
I hope this helps
