The difficulty lies in Paradise Twp with the number of Jacob Sontags that lived there and the lack of records.
The original John Layton Sunday who wrote a book many many years ago about the Sunday family left a question mark by
Jacob son of Jurg.He said it would take more research for someone to figure out that line because of the number of Jacob's living in Paradise. In the 1980s a family researcher left a note at the Berks Co Historical Society saying the Jacob born in 1785 was the son of Jurg, but she she left no source for the relationship. (This Jacob's tombstone is located at Strayer's Cemetery in Dover 1785-1743)There were 2 Jacob Sontags living in Paradise at the same time and were only 4 years apart in age.She may not even have known that there were 2.
I believe the Jacob that married Clary Kell 1785-1843 is the son of Joseph Sontag - wagonmaker in Paradise, grandson of Jacob Sontag who first applied for land in Paradise in 1746.
Of course the best proof would be birth records - which don't exist for either of the Jacobs. But I have been studying land and tax records in Paradise and I have seen enough to convince me which is which.I can send you what I have If you would like.Do you have information that Jacob married Klary in 1811?And do you have the source
of that record?Thanks, JoLynne
