Funeral services for Linda Huff, 87, of Houston, were held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, August 30, 1996 from Knesek Bros/Etlinger Funeral Chapel in Bellville. The Rev. Don Carlson officiated. Interment was in the Pilgrim's Rest Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Eddie Anders, George Anders, Wilford Sontag, Werner Beyer, Clinton Brast, Harry W. Brast, Weldon Hoff and Kenneth Holdt.
She was born on October 27, 1908 in Industry, Texas, the daughter of William and Emma (Liebscher) Sontag. She grew up on a farm near Bellville with her parents, three older sisters and three older brothers.
She was baptized and confirmed into the Christian faith on Christmas Day, 1924, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Bellville.
On May 4, 1927, she married Lawrence Charles Hoff, Sr. in Bellville. They made their home on a farm near Bellville until 1936 when they moved to Houston. They joined Zion Lutheran Church.
Linda was a homemaker all her life. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She took great pride in her family. She baby-sat for three generations of family members. During her life, Linda did some innovative and quality cooking. She could make meals out of very little. Her years were filled with growing plants of all varieties. She spent most of her later years working with the soil with her plants.
Linda Sontag Huff died Tuesday August 27, 1996 in Houston, Texas.
She is survived by one son, Lawrence Charles Hoff, Jr. and wife Florence; daughter, Jerlene Ray and husband Jack; daughter, Shirley Hoff; five grandhcildren: Barbara Goldberg and husband Lemroy; Lawrence E. Hoff and wife Cynthia; Jacqualyn Roemer and husband Terry; Rene Runge; Jack Ray, Jr. and wife Marsha; eleven great grandchildren; brother Edwin Sontag and wife Frances; several nieces and nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Lawrence C. Hoff, Sr. and daughter, Barbara Jean Hoff.
