My ancestor Sarah FAY was born in about 1776 in Chertsey, Surrey, England. She married a butcher, Charles SOUCH, sometime between 1792 and 1807, and had two sons:
Beaumont SOUCH, born 5th May 1807 and christened in Chertsey on 31st May 1807 to Charles SOUCH/Sarah Richard SOUCH, born 15th July 1809 and christened in Chertsey on 23rd July 1809 to Charles SOUCH, a butcher, native of this parish, and Sarah
Charles died of consumption on 13th Nov 1810 and was buried at St Peter's on the 24th November.
Sarah went on to have an illegitimate daughter called Euphemia, born on 28th May 1812 and baptised at St Peter's on 6th September 1812 (Sarah must have fought to get her illegitimate child baptised!). Euphemia is my ancestor, and she married Henry William GEORGE in Egham in 1832.
Beaumont died young and was buried at St Peter's, Chertsey, on 5th April 1840.
Sarah never remarried and the 1851 census finds her at the age of 74 living in Gogmore Lane, Chertsey, with a friend and her 12 year old grandson Henry Souch, a milkboy, who must be the son of either Richard or Beaumont. She was working as a dressmaker. She was buried at the Dissenter's Chapel in Chertsey in 1860.
Please do get in touch if you are interested in any of the above people! Thanks!
