RUBY ELLEN (SPEARS) ADAMS
Remembered for her flower gardens that brightened the curve above Josephine.
Ruby Ellen Spears Adams,88, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2005 in Lewis-Gale Hospital, Salem.
A former resident of Wise County she had made her home with her daughter in Roanoke.
She will be especially remembered for her love of cats and for her flower gardens that brightened the curve above Josephine.
She was born July 8, 1916 to the late George Washington and Bessie Johnson Spears.
Also preceding her in death were her husband, Loy Villard Adams; a sister, Trula Winkles; and brother,Winfred Spears.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Darlene and G.W. Thompson, Roanoke; one granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Beth and Erik Hernquist, Centreville; brother-in-law, Willie Winkles, Norton; nephew, Mark Winkles, Kingsport, Tenn. and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours were Sunday, Jan. 16, from 1-3 p.m. at Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Mike Davis officiating.
Interment followed at Powell Valley Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to a charity that benefits animals.
