Hello -
I am also researching the Van Vliere ("Van Vlerah") family who removed to Defiance County, OH from Tuscarawas County, OH mid 1850s.I believe that you might find more "earlier" information on these two families in Tuscarawas County, perhaps Dohrman or Rush TWPs.
I have seen two marriage records for Jacob SPONSLER.One could possibly be for his father who married the widow of Samuel Van Vlerah (speculation - not proven at this point).
Realize that the census shows various spellings of the name Van Vlerah...
1850 Census – Tuscarawas Co. OH – Rush TWP, (enum. 7 Nov 1850)Pg. 128:

Elizabeth Vanolerh, age 14, b. OH
Amon Vanolerh, age 9, b. OH
Enos Vanolerh, age 3, b. OH
Amanda Vanolerh, age 6, b. OH
Later, in Defiance County, Ohio:

Marriage Records:
