Tidbits from Williamson Co. Illinois
Hello Southern Illinos Cousins,I was able to spend about 4 hours in the library in Marion,Illinois last Monday. This one may be a repent but here goes: Williamson Co. Il. Census 1850:Seth Bell43MFarming N.C. NaomaBell33F.Tenn.Moses W.Bell 8 MIL.John J.5 M IL. Seth A. Bell 2 M IL.Moses W.Springs74M Farming N.C. * I bet this is our Moses W. father of Benjamin Springs! Then I found a book called: Personal Memoirs of Jas.W.Turner: Mr. Turner was a teacher and Secretary at Williamson Co. meetings. In this book he lists teachers from the meeting of 1882. There is a Monroe Springs and a T.B.Springs . Also in this book he calls a section : Leading Families: " Among the pupils who attended my schools at No. 9 were the Dutys, the Welborns, the Lakeys, the Allens, the Enochs, the Fullers, the Keltons,VanCleves,Shaws,O'Neals,Tidwells,Thompsons, and various branches of the Springs and Parks families, and my brothers". I attended Bethel Baptist church and visited the graves of my gt-grandparents and others. A blessed fourth of July to all my cousins! Sincerely, Gloria B.
