Earliest SPROUSE in NC?

By genealogy.com user February 04, 2002 at 09:43:25

I'm trying to determine the parentage of my George Sprouse, b. abt. 1777 VA.His son Louis M. Sprouse was b. abt. 1810 in either NC or SC (the 1850 & 1860 censuses disagree). To that end I have been searching for the earliest Sprouses to arrive in NC, supposing that George worked his way south. The earliest I have found were:
1) "Geroge Sprous" witnessed the will of Daniel Sullivane in Orange Co., NC in 1792.
2) David Sprouse found on 1792 census of Stokes Co., NC.
3) A Sprouse found on the 1800 census index of Buncombe Co., and again in 1810.In 1820 the actual census shows Jesse Sprouse, who was supposed to be a Rev. War veteran, so conceivably all of these could be him.Again in 1830 on the census index of Buncombe was a Sprouse.
4) Aaron "Sprouts" listed on the 1812 muster roll for NC; 6th Reg., 1st Co. (detached from the 2nd Guilford Co. Regiment).

Both my George and his son Louis are found on the Pickens Co., AL censuses as early as 1830.Both married Nancys, maiden names unknown.George had at least 2 sons, one of whom was deceased by 1850.Any clues would be appreciated!
