Casey,
I am not trying to be arrogant with that statement about the "incompetent Roger" I only say that because it is what I have read.
I have read that Roger was deprived of inheriting because he was incompetent, and that he was kept prisoner at Adrundrel (sp?) Castle. Therefore, he never married or produced any offspring. This is why many think it is ludicrous to say that the father of Thomas Stafford is Roger. I, for one, don't believe it.
I think it is more likely that you would connect to the Staffords of VA., as opposed to Thomas of RI.Whether the VA. Staffords and the RI Staffords connect,I do not know.
I am supposedly descended from Thomas, but I am not even sure about that. My Stafford ancestor is Amos. Many, I know, have connected Thomas, Samuel, and Amos as, father, son and grandson, respectively, but I've seen no proof of that.To complicate matters even more, they have Samuel and Amos born in Mass., RI., and England, all w/in various dates, as though they want to cover all bases.Perhaps sometime in the future, when I'm not so busy on other lines, I'll get to Amos's ancestry.
