Thanks, Mike.I think you have my Stafford family. My great -grandmother was Martha Stafford. She was born in Moore Co. NC on 1 October 1857. At some time in her youth they moved to the Montague County, Texas area. Here she met James Cook who was working on the Lovin Ranch as a 'cowboy'.They were married 1 August 1875 at Pilot Point, Denton County, Texas. They had 3 children in Texas: Charles Delbert b. 13, June 1877 in Young County, near Graham; Fannie Evelyn (my grandmother), born 9 January 1879 and Shelby, born May 20, 1881.In the early part of 1882, James moved the family back to his home in Howard County, Missouri.Shelby died on the way home and is buried in a farmer's front yard somewhere in Texas or Oklahoma.Back in Missouri, James and Martha had 10 more children. If you want more info on Martha's family, I will be glad to share.
Fannie saidthat George and Eliza Stafford, her uncle and his wife, lived in Sour Lake, Texas.I have a tin-type of James Cook and George Stafford.Martha's obit states that she is survived by a brother, I. B. Stafford of Broken Bow, Oklahoma.Could J. B. be I. B. instead?I have a picture of I.B. Stafford and his wife Emma.
It is good to have more info on George, and the others in Martha's family.
Thanks, Glenda
