Staggs from Lawrence, wayne county

I'm Looking for help on the family of Richard H. Staggs
possibly born 1804 in South Carolina. He listed in the 1860, 1870 census for wayne county. Richards wife was Mahalia born abt.1812 in Tennessee.

All the children were born in Tennessee. In the 1870 Census in states Richard was born in South Carolina.
I'm having trouble finding a connection to a Ellison Staggs which he he listed as living with Mahalia as a grandson in the 1880 Lawrence Co. census along with Mollie (granddau.) Loveny (grandson) Margaret (granddau.) and 3 of her daughters Mary, Jane, Mary J.
