The parents of Nathan Monroe were James B. (Bruce?) Staggs and Sarah "Sallie" Scott.

1900 Census for Hopewell Township, Anderson Co, SC
James is listed as a farmer but he has a servant, 2 guards, several boarders and prisoners. I am wondering if this was a prison farm and he contracted with the prison to work the prisoners? I have only listed the family:
