Hi Dana,
Welcome to the family! Yes I do know of Albert. Here's what I have.My great aunt Viola wrote down most of this info before she died and I have confirmed all of it with birh/death certs., census records etc.
Albert was born in Nov. 1870 in New York city, likely Manhattan. Albert was married twice. His first marriage was to Frances (born @ 1877) and resulted in 3 children. Josephine, Lydia, and Katherine. His second marriage was to Margaret Krauss and they had at least 10 children: Albert, Frank, Frances, Susan and George.Possibly also a Michael.Albert the son died of birth defects in 1943 as did the father Albert. Is your grandmother Susan Hickey? There is a more direct relation to you online.Edward Staib is the son of George, susans brother. You can reach him online at ancestry.com just go to the staib message board.
Alberts father was Michael staib although we have no written proof just aunt Viola. My connection is my grandfather is Augustine staib (his sister was Viola), his father was August staib brother of Albert. Augusts father was Michael staib and his mother was Chrissianna.I recently found Augusts WW1 draft record listing his next of kin as Chrissianna staib who lived with him. This is likely his mother and the first written proof of a connection other than Viola. I must say that all of Viola's dates and names have been exactly right as I research so I do trust her knowing her grandfather was Michael.Michael came to the US in 1854 on the Art Union out of Havre. He was 15 and is on the ship with someone named Regine Staib age 22. Not sure of the relation.Michael was a Woodcarver and his son August was a piano carver.Michael was born in 1839 in Wurtenburg Germany. He is on the 1880 census as William (I dont know why but all the children are the same) you can see this for free at familysearch.org, the 1900 census. So far thats about all I have. Ed may have more on your direct line since it is the same as his.Let me know if you find anything new. Good luck.
