My name is Bart Moon, my grandmother's maiden name was Frankie Starbuck, my farm has been in my family for 7 generations, and it's in Clinton County OH.I think, but I don't know for sure, this farm was originally owned by Jacob Haynes, who's daughter was my grandmother's mother. She married a Starbuck.I believe her nickname was Glady.I know alot of Starbucks were buried behind Dover church off 134, and I know they are all relatives, although they were long dead before I was ever born.
This farm is on Mt. Pleasant road around where 68 and I-71 interchange.Jacob Haynes owned and lived here during the Civil War, and hid slaves for those on their way to Canada for the Underground railroad days. There is a place upstairs that has a fake wall, so it's possible, and there is ald railroad bed near by on the property, and a chimney that was a feeding stop for the railroad.
Apparently, Jacob Haynes was a gambler, I have an old painting of this house, and there was then a race track in the field across the street, anyway he almost lost the farm.My great Grandfather, I don't know what his first name was, but he was a Starbuck, worked his whole life to save this farm, and then died soon after paying off all the debts.
My grandparents were Robert Owen Champlin, and Frankie (Starbuck) Champlin.
I'm writing a book about the history of this farm, and would appreciate any information you can provide.Thank you
