David, thanks so much for your reply. I had pretty much determined that Thomas had been born in Virginia, but I just wanted to be sure.

Thomas is also my 6th gr. grandfather. This is my line:

Thanks for the information on the Stark book. Would you happen to know whether it has confirmed that Thomas' father, James, was born in Glasgow, Scotland c. 1695?
