Brian:I have seen no contemporary data on Sarah's parentage; the Grafton vital records list only marriage and death with a notation that she was from Worcester. Her gravestone in the Oak Street burial ground is broken off but enough remains(joke) to see death date. She is buried beside two of her children; her husband in about 40 feet away. Only one of the Stearns genealogy lists a Sarah married to a Lathe as a child of Deliverance and John. One internet site says she is their granddaughter by their son John III; most of the other 19internet sites concur with you.
My hope is to find a contemporary document that shows her as a natural Stearns or by marriage. 5 years ago I had 3 Lathe wives as dead-ends now only Sarah. By the way, the name is Lathe only in Grafton. It is Leathe in Woburn and back to Leathe 4 generations later in North Adams. Sarah is my 4G grandmother. Thanks for your interest-Bob Nichols
