RE Nancy Stiltner Adkins, born 1880-1890

I am trying to search my husband's family. His paternal great grandmother was a Nancy Stiltner Adkins, according to her obit in 1961. Family lore is that she was from deep southwest and then migrated to the lynchburg va area sometime around 1957? She had a daughter named Vessie? born in 1916. Family stories indicate that both women looked native american and spoke a language no one understood, presumably cherokee. They are supposedly from the Buchanan Va area.Could this nancy (guessing she was born around 1880-1890) be related to your nancy.We have very little information.
