Re: John Lemon D. Stinson b. 1857 Iowa
Bingo! The 1900 U.S. Census shows that the family Lemon D. Stinson (in the old letter, he was called Uncle Lem) family lived in Hendrick, Keokuk Co., Iowa. His second wife was Marguerita. The children were listed Leaonard, born Jan. 1888 in Kansas; and Stella, born in July 1892 in Missouri.
I think that censustaker could not understand the spelling of the name LeGrande. If your LeGrande was born in Jan. 1888. therefore, that the name of Leonard is the same person LeGrande. My ancestor Pocahontas Stinson was a sister of John Lemon D. Stinson (Lem D. Stinson).Note: his initial D. stands nothing just D.Also Lem D. Stinson was listed in US Census 1890 Okla Territory above Edward Stone family.I realized that your LeGrande was a son of Lem D. Stinson, not of Meeker Everett Stinson.
