CHRISTIAN STIPE, b. 3/15/1806 - PIC OF TOMBSTONE!
I just returned from NC, where I visited Concord Methodist Church Cemetery, founded in the 1700's in Lewisville.I was trying to locate my ggg-grandfather and ggg-grandmother's graves (Jones), which had been moved there last year from private property.
As I was leaving the cemetery, I found a very, very old stone, barely legible, and took a digital picture of it.
Inscription reads
"Here lies the body of Christan Stipe, bornd March the 16th 1806..."
there is something written beneath, but the stone is broken off.The only word I can make out is "ceast"...
Anyone wishing an emailed picture of this tombstone feel free to contact me.I am intrigued by the stone, but this Stipe doesn't appear in my database, even though he is buried with a number of my ancestors, Jones, Stipe, Pledger, Griffith, etc.Perhaps I can place him.Or perhaps he is one of your Stipes.
