My grandmother (dec.) is a Stobbe - help required
Hi all, I'm not quite sure where to start. My name is Jurgen Jocubeit. I recently started researching my father's lineage and have found some official documents, birth and marriage registrations. My father was born in Tilsit, Opstr in 1928 to Laborant Bernhard Paul Jocubeit and Johanne Gertrud Jocubeit (born Stobbe). So my grandmother (deceased) is a Stobbe. I have located two birth registrations issued in 1934 and 1944. I have also found another birth registration in 1874 that mentions a Johann Stobbe, Amalie Stobbe, and Friedrich August issued in 1942. I find this document confusing, only having little German language knowledge.
I have managed to trace my grandfather's lineage back four generations so far, but am having difficulty with my grandmother's side.
As a matter of interest I searched Google and found records of Amalie Stobbe travelling by ship (Normannia) from Hamburg via Southampton arriving at Ellis Island (USA) on Aug 24, 1894. She was 30 years of age at the time. I have not determined if she was married.
I would sincerely appreciate any help deciphering the document issued in 1942.
My father is now in a nursing home, suffering from dementia and Parkinson's disease. He has reverted to his native tongue but is so soft spoken I cannot understand him. So I'm not able to get any information from him. He has no living relatives - but I was once told he had distant cousins in the States.
I have scanned (at high resolution) the documents and placed them on my web site. If anyone can help please visit http://genealogy.jocubeit.com/stobbehttp://genealogy.jocubeit.com/stobbe and click the links to view the images of the scans.
