Re: Origin Stobbe Family
During many centuries Holland was, and to a certain extent still is, a safe haven for religeous refugees from other parts of Europe and the world. So, it surprises me that menonites were "forced" to live somewhere else. What I do know is that lots of "poor" landless agricultural labourers from the Eastern parts of Holland moved in Easterly directions, travelling from farm to farm during the haymaking and the cereal crop harvesting periods, to offer their labour input. Many of them decided to stay and live at the locations where they met and married a local female.
