Jacob Stover, Lebanon & Franklin Counties, Penn., 1700s

By Tom Camfield December 31, 2013 at 10:58:48

Jacob Stover settled in Lebanon County, Penn., with his family by the l770s--later apparently was in Franklin Co. and eventually Somerset Co. HIs daughter Elizabeth married my ancestor Frederick Custer, according to one account.

However, by another account, Elizabeth (my ancestor's second wife) was the daughter of a Henry Stover who died about 1826.

I have an ancestry for Elizabeth via father Jacob Stover that goes back to the early 1600s--but it certainly could use some documentation in key places, especially the generation of Elizabeth Stover's father Jacob.

Descents without documentation are about a dime a dozen on the Internet--and without some sort of documentation are work about a twelfth of a dime. No matter how great they may appear. Times have changed drastically from the earliest days of genealogical news groups and roots.web.

Individual contact remains my favorite, as long as people treat it as a give-and-take relationship and don't just want someone's 25-year-research handed to them in 10 minutes. :-)
