Ann Stowe (1796->1880) of Mained to S.C.
There was a Captain Stowe of Maine, the master of a sailing vessel, whose daughter, Ann Stowe, accompanied him on a voyage to Charleston, S.C., in about 1820. There, she married William J. Musgrove (1782-1848), a slave trader. Due to Musgrove's profession, her father disowned her and she never saw him again. William J. Musgrove had inherited Musgrove's Mill in Laurens County, S.C., when his father died in 1790, where the well-known Revolutionary War battle was fought in 1780. William and Ann Musgrove retired to his Mill property by 1829. After his death she remarried in S.C.
Can anyone tell me the name of Captain Stowe of Maine?
