JOHN STRETTON -- Tried Leicester Assizes 19th March 1807
Stealing sheep. He was a brickmaker from Liverpool.Sentence Death commuted to Transportion for Life. Came to Sydney Australia on the ship "Anne".
Married Mary MURPHY, September 13 1814, St. John's Church of England Parramatta, New South Wales.
Both came across to Tasmania on the "Kangaroo", arriving in Port Dalrymple (now Launceston) 28-May-1816.
Nothing is known further about Mary. John has a family by Catherine DUNN, at least two children, including John STRATTON (1818-1855) and Peter STRATTON (1822-1899) both born in Georgetown, where their father headed up the government brickworks. These two sons subsequently migrated to Victoria.
John STRATTON married Patience GODDARD 28-Mar-1849.Peter STRATTON married her sister Prudence GODDARD 18-Dec-1849.
Any knowledge of these STRATTON's in Tasmania, or Victoria, will be greatly appreciated.
