George Stringfellow of Virgina (fl. 1763-1793)
The traditional list of children for William Stringfellow ( - 1746) includes the following sons: William, Henry, James, Robert, John, Enoch, and Reuben. These men can all be established to be sons of William Stringfellow from court records in King George Co., VA. However, the court records in Culpeper and Stafford counties include entries for a George Stringfellow, who was apparently a contemporary of the sons of William Stringfellow. This George Stringfellow appears in Culpeper Co., VA court records in 1763, contemporaneously with William ( - ca 1812) and Henry Stringfellow ( - ca 1815), although, not in the same court documents. George Stringfellow also appears in Stafford Co., VA records from at least 1784 to 1793. In one of these records he was listed along with James Stringfellow ( - 1805). Since George Stringfellow was exempted from paying taxes in 1791, he was probably born prior to 1731. Therefore, it is possible that George could have been one of the elder sons of William Stringfellow ( - 1746). Only one of the 33 grandchildren of William Stringfellow ( - 1746) that I have records for was named George, that was third son of James Stringfellow. This George Stringfellow was born in 1772. Since James Stringfellow ( - 1805) and George Stringfellow ( - aft. 1793) were obviously acquainted in Stafford Co., VA, there is possibly some family link. Does anyone have any further evidence of a relationship between George Stringfellow and William Stringfellow ( - 1746)?
