James Suit or Suite from St. Mary's Co. MD-- wife info
I am now convinced that James Suite was s/o William Suite and wife, Susannah Wood, d/o Samuel Wood and Anne Briscoe (widow of John Davis.)
I think he was probably born in the 1750's and died 1813 leaving a will in St. Mary's Co MD.I think he married Anna Banner, d/o Peter Banner and Elizabeth or Mary Elizabeth Wood, also d/o Samuel Wood and Anne Briscoe--thus, James apparently married his first cousin, Anna Banner.
In Peter Banner's will of 1799 in Barnwell, SC, he mentions daughters Elizabeth Coleman (she was wife of James Coleman of Craven Co NC>Barnwell SC), Lydia Broaday or Broadway (who I think is mom of Elkanah B. Broadey);and Anna "Shute" who I believe to be Anna Suite, wife of James Suite of St. Mary's MD.
Anna and James would've been first cousins due to his mother, Susannah Wood Suite was sister of Elizabeth Wood Banner, and again--both were duaghters of Samuel Wood and Anne Briscoe.
In 1826, James' son, William B. Suit left a will in St. Mary's MD mentioning his cousin, Elkanah B. Broadey.I found an Elkanah B. "Brauda" in Barnwell, SC who I am pretty sure was the same man. That is exactly where Peter Banner went after leaving MD (he witnessed a will for a David Hellen in Calvert Co. that was probated in St. Mary's Co MD in the 1760's), and then Peter Banner got land grants in Barnwell SC in 1780's. He apparently came via Craven Co NC as duaghter, Elizabeth married James Coleman there in 1785. (she is mentioned in Peter's will.)
In Peter's will, his wife was Mary and that may or may not be the same woman as Elizabeth Wood, who could've been Mary Elizabeth. I saw an older rootsweb posting listing her as Mary or Elizabeth (something similar to this).
Anyway, James had 2 known sons, Samuel (My ancestor who married 1st to Lydia Clark and 2nd to Elsie Jones), and James' other son was William B. Suit who died in 1826.Apparently James had a daughter, Ann who married James Herbert in 1802 in St. Mary's MD.I am not sure if Sarah and Jane were his daughters, but it is possible due to his will.
Samuel Suit and wife, Elsie Jones disappaeared off the St. Mary's census after 1850.
I would like to know when they died and where they are buried. Also, if anyone knows wehre James Suit who died 1813 is buried.
