Henry Summerauer, b. 1722, W. Germany-- DNA test?
I am attempting to organize a Surname group thru Family Tree Maker's DNA project, which is found at "www.familytreedna.com" website... currently, there is no Summerrow/Summerour/Sumrall/ DNA group of previously tested cousins... I know most of the cousins I've been in touch with are still located in NC, although some branches have spread west to Arkansas, then to Texas (my line), and other areas of the US. We would open this group to any/all cousins whose surnames are a blend of the original Summerauer spelling.
I would be willing to act as Administrator for this group to assist in the testing and getting the results to all interested cousins. However, it will be pointless for one person to test until we have other cousins having their DNA tested in order to have comparisons on file.
There is a reduced price from FTM-DNA in effect until Aug. 31 for new groups, such as ours would be. Thus, the purpose of this letter is to ask if there are any of you out there who would be willing to join or donate towards the testing of a few cousins who might not be financially able to conduct their own tests... the prices range, depending on what level of testing you desire to do.... the "37 marker" test appears to be the most comprehensive and will give much more information, which would then be shared amongst all of those who join the Surname DNA group on ftmdna.com. The published cost for this 37 marker test is around $265... it may be less if we can order the kits online before Aug. 31, 08.
Alternatively, less comprehensive tests are available at the 12 and 24 marker levels... the level 12 beginning at only $99. These levels would not provide as much information back to Henry, but would still be very helpful at many more recent levels .
We know that we have ancestors who begin with Heinrich (Henry) Summerauer, b. 1722 in Summerau, W. Germany and who died in Lincoln Co., NC. Ideally, if we can find one of our cousins from NC who has fairly well proven his line to Henry, he would be the person best identified to serve as our "base" donor to which other tests could be compared.
Please let me know if you would be interested in joining this Surname DNA group, at whatever level you choose in order for us to solve some of the gaps in our lines.
Looking forward to hearing from you... please write me diret at "echancestudio.com", if you desire.
