David Veloris Sutherland

I am searching for lineage of David Veloris Sutherland. I found him in 1850 living with an Elizabeth Harrison in Carr Township, Jackson Township, Indiana. In other censuses, he lists his birth place as Canada. On the 1850 census, also, there was a Polly Wray living with Elizabeth Harrison. One of his sons married a Wray descendent. There was also another Sutherland family listed a few households before Harrison. Could that be a connection?
