Sutherland, Alexander about 1770s - 1790s, Scotland

Over the years I keep looking for information on Alexandar Sutherland married to Marion MacKay.Their son was Daniel A. Sutherland born in Kintradwell, Clyne, Sutherlandshire, Scotland(1795-1825) and he married Jane Jean Smith who was born in Hudson Bay Territory, Canada (1804-1879).
That branch of my tree has been stopped for years. Any clues would be very much appreciated.
