Sutter Family from Switzerland/Kruger/Touve/Oestriech/Poehler/Hofheinz
Hi,
I have been in search for the correct "Sutter" family from Switzerland for too many years and hope someone can help me.
My Sutter family members are listed on a ship manifest. They arrived in New Orleans, Louisiana aboard the ship named "Forest State" on 21 Mar 1857.They departed Europe through the port of LeHavre, France.
Sutter family members listed on the manifest are:
Elisabeth Sutter Birth:abt 1852 -md. Fred Hofheinz
Gotlieb Sutter Birth:abt 1854
Jacques Sutter Birth:abt 1797 -1st
Jacques Sutter Birth:abt 1815 -2nd
Jacques Sutter Birth:abt 1849 -3rd md Louisa Geiger
Jean Sutter Birth:abt 1842
Marie Sutter Birth:abt 1853
Susanne Sutter Birth:abt 1845
Verena Sutter Birth:abt 1850
Verena Sutter Birth:abt 1817-wife of 2nd
This is obviously 3 generations traveling together. The 2nd Jacque(Jacob) Sutter is my gg grandfather. He later moved to the Centralia, Marion Co., IL. area.I cannot find where his wife (Verena) died.
The 3rd Jacque(Jacob) Sutter married and worked for the Centralia Railroad.

Their address was:111 E. 11th St.

This family was of the Lutheran faith.By the 1880 Census the 2nd Jacque was married to a Frances and the daughter Minnie was still living with them in Centralia---Minnie (Wilhelmina) is my grt grandmother and married John Henry Poehler.
The 3rd Jacque(Jacob) Sutter had 4 children in the Centralia, Marion Co., Il. area and they were---
