Some of you fellow Swagerty researchers & cousins are probably wondering if how many follow-ups I intend to post to my own post?It has not been intentional, but seems the only/best way to get this info out to those who are interested. There are so many desc's of Thos & Anna (Manning) Swagerty out there looking for just the kind of "proof" that is to be found in the marriage of Jonathan Swagerty to Sarah Eliz Marrs.
I, just yesterday, called the Clerk of Dist Ct's office in Blue Mound, Linn Co., KS.One of the clerks looked up the Bk & Page #s for me.By the way, I had already "knew" that Anna was a Manning before finding this marriage.I had offered that it was just possible, that Joesph (Manning?) Swagerty of early TX records was another son of Thos & Anna, to as many researchers as I could, while still trying to convince several that John Swagerty & Jonathan S (JS) Swagerty were two very different sons of Thos & Anna, and not the same man/son.It was much later that I actually ran across this marriage and confirmed that Jonathan was a son of Thos & Anna, and that Anna ws a Manning.
According to the clerk, this marriage of Jonathan, listed in this marriage record as JS Swagerty is marriage # 374 in Register of Marriage Bk 4, Page 219, and a copy of this marriage can be obtained by sending $1.00, along with a Self Addressed Stamped Envelope, to Linn Co. Dist. Ct., PO Box 350, Mound City, KS 66056.Pardon me once again, if I did not make it clear in the post that this follow-up is to, but in this marriage of J. S. (Jonathan) Swagerty to Sarah Elizabeth Marrs, he gives his parents names as Thos Swagerty and Anna Maning.I intend to order a copy of this marriage, asap, and I am sure there will be quite a few others who will do the same.I do not have any idea how long it will take, as I have had several items on order from KS Dept of Health & Vital Statistics for some time now.I will have to look thru more of my Swagerty files, after many years of not working on it, to answer a few more ?s that have arisen from my several posts. This may take awhile, as I was in the middle of some research on several other families in JKAL, including another Stephens line, when I decided to post the series of posts on my own Stephens line.I had not intended to get invovled in any Swagerty posts, at this present time, but since I have, I do intend to answer as many ?s that I possibly can, that have and will come from these posts. It is just simply going to take awhile, so don't give up on me answering yours, as I assure you I have rec'd more than a few, already.
Thanks for all of your interest, and the several great replys and additional info that many of you have sent and continue to send, each time I check my email messages.Keep 'em coming, and I will get back with/to you, Richard.
