Re: Andrew Swarthout in Lenawee MI
Andrew Swartwout, wife Judah Every is my ancestor.I have that very same 1850 census record. It's definitely listed as Cornelius, age 15.I don't have any other information for you about a Charles.Other than I do have Cornelius in the 1860 census.
He's found in the 1860 federal census forJefferson, Columbia Township, Jackson County, Michigan.page 228.Dwelling No. 1582, family no. 1626.Head of household "Zetis Swartwout" (my ancestor - son of Andrew).Cornelius is listed as age 26, farm laborer, born New York.
I have Zetus' obituary from the Adrian Daily Telegraph dated 10 May 1924, page 8, column 8.It says in part "in the year 1836, Andrew and Juda Swartout, his parents, with their family of 11 children came to Michigan from New York crossing the land by ox team and Lake Erie by boat, arriving here the last of April. With them came their aged grandfather, Thomas Swartout, then aged 80 years, who had served in the Revolutionary war and whose death occurred 15 years later his grave being the second one made in the Cement City Cemetery."
I don't know if this helps, but it's really all I have that addresses part of your questions.
