Sylvester Canada MA
I understand how you feel about the fact that there seems to be a lot of loose and dead ends. The Sylvester I am looking for came from Canada and ended up in Ma, his name was Joseph. He had a son named John who is my biological great grandfather. He married my biolgical greatgrandmother and her maiden name was Nancy Ward. They had several children who for one reason or another ended up in an orphanage. At least three of them. One was my grandfather who was adopted by a Stratton from Ct. His older brother was adopted by a Fouts in Indiana. His sister also was sent to Indiana on an orphan train at the same time but ended up back in CT. I continue each day to try to find out more if I can. With the recent release of the 1940 census puts a John Sylvester, the right age and a widower living on the same street as my grandfather. It makes me wonder if they knew. No one is still alive that can tell me if they knew or not that they were father and son, only removed by name. I have not been able to come up with what happened to my biological grandmother.
