Re: Edgar Haight/Wm. T. Tallman 1795-1853
I think you'll find that Edgar's father Daniel was born in Massachusetts and migrated to Dutchess Co like the Tallman's did as well a many others. Some of the Haight's, Tallman's and Southworth's migrated from Dutchess Co to the "Central New York Military Tract" because of poor farming conditions back in the Town of Washington and Dover which were both hilly and rocky. There are still many in fact hundreds of those family members buried in old Dutchess Co Cemeteries.
The information you have on both Edgar & William is both interesting and quite good, you should note however that the Lydia Tallman you have b. 1801, I have as c.1805 and Geo W Tallman b.1814 were siblings of William T.Lydia remained single and George went to the California gold fields in 1849 going by way of the Isthmus of Panama and sailing up the coast to San Francisco.George lived his life in Ca. and for a time in Nevada. He became a Master Mason while in Virginia City. As mentioned he died from injuries from a jail breakout. He was in fact the first deputy sheriff to loose his life in the line of duty in San Mateo Co.In 2003 his grave was re-dedicated and attended by over 400 local and sheriff officers and Mason's.
