Heinrich Tang(e)man/Henry Tong(e)manis the ggg grandfather of my wife, nee Tongeman. Her father is the last of a line of Henry Tongemans.Happy to share info on the family.
I understand that those who emigrated to New Zealand in 1850s/1860s were the children and grandchildren of Heinrich Tangeman not cousins. Also there were five if not six who travelled to New Zealand. The grandchildren who went to New Zealand were children of Heinrich's son Henry Tong(e)man whose wife was Eliza (nee Thridgould). Two sisters who were granddaughters of Heinrich married two brothers named Witte. Another of the emigrants married a person whose surname was "Earl".At least one other Tongeman relationwent to New Zealand some years later, a dentist, whose surname was"Loeber".
I do not know the date that Heinrich came to England from Germany or where he came from in Germany - probably Hanover. In thechurch records of the German Lutheran church inAlie Street, London,Heinrich is shown as Heinrich Tangeman and in other records as Henry Tong(e)man. He married a Sophie Brook(e). Heinrich died at the age of 62 or 64 as shown by the German church records in London and the Official death records respectively which means that he was born about 1778/1780 in Germany.
